Abstract

Notes recent major meetings/conferences associated with or focused on African elephants, and reviews the ongoing work towards the next update of the next African Elephant Status report (formerly AED), on going work regarding implementation of an elephant conservation strategy for the SADC countries, ongoing field and assessment work concerned with Human Elephant Conflict, an update on the MIKE programme and some of the reseacch carried out under the Small Grants Programme. This latter AfESG programme undertaken with funds provided by the Europeon Community implemented 22 projects in 13 range states between 2002 and November 2004.
