Abstract

Updated poaching statistics for 2019 are listed in Table 1. Encouragingly overall reported (minimum) poaching levels have continued to decline to 2.09 a day.  This represents a 43.5% decline since peak levels in 2015. Since the last edition of Pachyderm was published we have learned about another 2 southern white rhino that were poached in the DR Congo in 2018 that increases the revised 2018 total by 2.
