Abstract

Notes that the funding for conservation and management is inadequate and since it appears that poaching has returned in some area and the human/elephant conflict is increasing throughout the range states work must be maintained and augmented. The updating of the AED is underway. At a regional meeting in Arusha the East African countries shared their problems, many which dealt with human/elephant conflict, and mixed experiences with solutions.
